This guide takes a golf course that uses Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) in the pro shop and Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series or L-Series) in the clubhouse from a new Wrapped account to launch. There are seven steps. Complete every step, in order, before you start selling gift cards. In particular, don't import your existing gift cards until both Lightspeed systems are connected.
Before you start
- A Wrapped account, with Owner or Admin access. If you don't have one yet, create a Wrapped account. See Set up your Wrapped account, step by step.
- Admin logins for Lightspeed Retail and Lightspeed Restaurant.
- A Stripe account, or the business and bank details to create one.
- Access to your website domain's DNS settings (or the person who manages them).
- An export of the gift cards you already have: codes, balances and customer details.

| 2. Connect Lightspeed Restaurant | Settings › Sales channels | K-Series or L-Series |

| 6. Send emails from your own domain | Settings › Sending | Send gift card emails from your own domain |
| 7. Import your existing gift cards | Gift cards › Batches | Import existing gift cards from a CSV file |
Step 1: Connect Lightspeed Retail (R-Series)
Connect the pro shop's Lightspeed Retail account at Settings › Sales channels. R-Series can be connected in two ways; the Lightspeed Golf setup uses the web extension. Follow Connect R-Series using the web extension. To compare the two methods, see Connect Lightspeed Retail R-Series: native or web extension?.
Finish this step, including making sure the sales channel is turned on, before you continue.
Step 2: Connect Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series or L-Series)
Connect the clubhouse's Lightspeed Restaurant account at Settings › Sales channels. Use the guide for the system you have:
You only need the one your clubhouse uses. Finish the connection before you continue.
Step 3: Create your web store and connect Stripe
The Wrapped web store lets golfers buy gift cards online, paid straight into your Stripe account.
- Go to Web store › Settings. Under Payments, click Connect my Stripe account, or Create a Stripe account if you don't have one, and finish the Stripe screens.
- Go to Web store › Products and create your gift card product. See Create gift card products for your web store.
- Review the rest of Web store › Settings, then switch the store on when you're ready to launch.
For every setting, see Create your Wrapped web store and Getting paid: Stripe, payouts and fees.
Step 4: Brand your gift cards
Make every email, wallet pass and printable gift card look like your course:
- Branding › Brand: your logo, colours and font. See Set up your brand.
- Branding › Emails: the gift card emails customers receive. See Customize your gift card emails.
- Branding › Wallet pass: Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes. See Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes.
- Branding › Designs: the gift card designs customers see. See Gift card designs and The printable gift card PDF.
Step 5: Set your gift card rules
Go to Settings › Gift card rules.
Expiry. Under Expiry, choose whether gift cards expire and, if they do, after how many months. Laws about gift card expiry differ between countries, states and provinces, so check the rules where your course is before you choose. See Gift card expiry.
Code length. Under Codes, click Edit on Code format and set Length to at least 8 characters, so codes can't be guessed. Wrapped won't save a shorter length. You can also add a dash every four characters or a prefix.
Code format changes only apply to new codes; existing codes don't change. Each Lightspeed system also has its own rules for gift card codes, so check Gift card code format and each platform's rules before you choose.
Step 6: Send emails from your own domain
Gift card emails are more likely to reach the inbox, rather than spam, when they're sent from your own domain.
- Go to Settings › Sending (also under Branding › Email settings) and open the sending domain settings.
- Enter your email address and confirm it's yours.
- Add the three DNS records Wrapped shows to your domain's DNS settings, or send them to whoever manages your domain.
- Check the records in Wrapped. New DNS records can take a few hours to show up, so check again later if they aren't found straight away.
See Send gift card emails from your own domain.
Step 7: Import your existing gift cards
Only import once Lightspeed Retail and Lightspeed Restaurant are both connected and turned on (steps 1 and 2), so Wrapped can add your existing gift cards to both systems.
- Export your existing gift cards, with their codes, balances, customer details and expiry dates, and put them into Wrapped's CSV format.
- Go to Gift cards › Batches and click Create batch.
- Choose Import a CSV file, upload the file and fix any errors Wrapped shows.
- Create the batch and wait for the import to finish. Large imports can take a while.
Existing codes must meet each Lightspeed system's code rules to work there. If your existing K-Series gift cards have QR codes, put the web address each QR code contains in the AlternateLookupCode column, so scanning the card finds it in Wrapped. For the full file format, see Import existing gift cards from a CSV file and Keep using the physical gift cards you already have.
After launch

Give managers and front-desk staff their own Wrapped logins with the right role. See Team members and roles.
Run promotions
- Marketing automations give a bonus when someone buys a gift card or spends over an amount, for example "buy a $200 gift card, get a $25 bonus gift card for your next round". They can run on pro shop and clubhouse sales as well as web store orders, and can be limited to dates, amounts and a number of uses. Automations are included on the Pro plan and above. See Marketing automations.
- A bonus gift card is emailed, so the Lightspeed sale needs a customer with an email address attached. Bonus credit is added to the purchased gift card instead and doesn't need a customer or email. See Bonus gift card or bonus credit?
- Prize accounts suit competitions: members contribute money to a prize account at your Lightspeed Retail (R-Series) POS, and you pay the winners in gift cards. Find them under Gift cards › Prize accounts. See Prize accounts.
- On the web store, use discount coupons and a promotional banner.
Physical gift cards
- Using physical gift cards with Wrapped
- Ordering printed gift cards
- Generate gift card codes for a printer
- Sell physical gift cards on your web store
Everyday tasks
- Issue a gift card from the dashboard
- Adjust a gift card's balance

- Check whether a gift card email was sent and delivered
Common questions
Do I need both K-Series and L-Series?
No. Connect the Lightspeed Restaurant system your clubhouse uses.
Why does the order of the steps matter?
When you import, Wrapped adds your existing gift cards to the sales channels that are connected at that time. Connecting both Lightspeed systems first means your imported cards are ready in the pro shop and the clubhouse. Setting the code format before you issue cards means every new code follows it.
Can I launch before importing my existing gift cards?
Import them first. Until a gift card is imported, Wrapped doesn't know about it, so it can't keep that card's balance in step between the pro shop, the clubhouse and your web store.
A bonus gift card wasn't sent for a pro shop sale. Why?
A bonus gift card is emailed, so the sale needs a customer with an email address attached in Lightspeed. See Why didn't my automation give a bonus?
Who do I contact for help with onboarding?
See Getting help from the Wrapped team.
