Yes, web store customers can choose to have a physical gift card posted instead of emailed. You turn on posting in Web store › Settings, set your shipping options and prices, and allow delivery by post on each product. When an order comes in, you're emailed, and you fulfil it by assigning a card code and clicking Mark as shipped. You're responsible for the cards and the postage: Wrapped doesn't print or post cards.
Set up posting
- Go to Web store › Settings and, under Shipping, turn on Physical gift cards by post.
- Click Add shipping option. Enter a Name (for example "Standard post"), an optional Description (for example "3–5 working days") and a Price. Enter 0 for free postage. Add as many options as you need.
- Under Order notifications, check Send order emails to. Emails about orders to post go to this address, or to your account email if it's empty.
- Go to Web store › Products, open each gift card product you want to post, and in Delivery and limits tick Offer delivery by post.
- To sell a product by post only, also tick Post only. Customers then aren't offered email delivery for it.
- Update the product's Details so customers know they can choose email or post, and how long postage takes.
What the customer does
At checkout, the customer chooses one of your shipping options instead of digital delivery and enters the postal address and a mobile number. The shipping price is charged once per order, however many cards are in it. Because the card hasn't been assigned yet, the confirmation page doesn't show a code for a posted card.
Fulfil an order
When a customer orders a posted card, you receive an email titled "New gift card to fulfill for order #…". Then:
- Find the cards waiting to be posted. Either:
- go to Gift cards › All gift cards, where a banner says "You have N orders that need to be shipped", and click View orders, or
- go to Web store › Orders, open an order marked To ship, and click Fulfil on the card.
- On the gift card page, the Ready to ship card shows the shipping option, the buyer and the address. Click Edit address if it needs correcting.
- Prepare the physical card. Either write the code shown in Gift card code (provisional) on the card, or replace that code with the code printed on a pre-printed card.
- Post the card.
- Click Mark as shipped.
If you enter a code that already belongs to another card in Wrapped (for example a blank card you imported), that other card is deleted and its code moves to this one. Only do this for printed cards that were never sold.
Use Mark as shipped on the gift card. Changing the order's Delivery status on the order page only changes the order's label; it doesn't activate the card.
What happens when you mark a card as shipped
- The gift card becomes active and is added to every connected sales channel, so it can be redeemed in your POS and online.
- It counts toward your monthly gift card allowance from this point, not from the order date. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
- When every posted card on the order is shipped, the order's delivery status changes to Shipped.
- The card isn't emailed when you mark it as shipped.
Until you mark it as shipped, the card is pending: it can't be redeemed anywhere.
Emails for posted cards
In Web store › Settings › Shipping, Emails for posted cards controls whether the recipient of a posted card gets any Wrapped emails later, such as balance updates and reminders. Turn it off if you never want the card's code emailed. The buyer's order confirmation and your order emails still send either way. See Web store emails.
Common questions
Does Wrapped print and post the cards?
No. You supply the cards and post them yourself. Wrapped has preferred printers if you need cards made: Kwikcards in New Zealand and Australia, and Plastic Printers in North America and the rest of the world. Any printer works. See Ordering printed gift cards.
Can I use cards I've already had printed?
Yes. Enter the printed card's code when you mark the card as shipped. The code must suit your sales channels' code format rules and your barcode type. See Barcode requirements for printed cards and scanners.
Can I charge different postage for different countries?
Each shipping option has one price, charged once per order. Add separate options (for example "Domestic" and "International") and name them clearly.
Can I post vouchers?
Yes. Offer delivery by post is available on voucher products too, and they're fulfilled the same way. Vouchers still aren't added to your sales channels; they're redeemed through Wrapped.
Can customers collect the card in store?
There's no click-and-collect option at checkout. Customers choose email delivery or one of your shipping options, and a shipping option always asks for a postal address.
Can I see all orders that still need posting?
Yes. In Web store › Orders, click All filters and set Delivery to To ship.
