Sell vouchers and experiences

Sell single-use vouchers for experiences, events, classes or offers on your web store - options such as dates or sessions, a limited number of tickets per option, optional value, samples, and how vouchers differ from gift cards.

Updated September 19, 2026

Yes, you can sell experiences on your web store. A Voucher product is a single-use voucher for something like a tasting, a dinner package, a class or an event. Customers buy one of the options you set up (such as a date or session), receive it by email with a printable PDF and wallet pass, and your staff redeem it once, in full, when they arrive. You can limit how many tickets each option sells.

Vouchers are stored in Gift cards › All gift cards alongside your gift cards, marked with their product and option.

Create a voucher product

    1. Go to Web store › Products and click Create product.
    2. Choose Voucher.
    3. Enter a Title (required) and Short description (required).
    4. Under Options, add one row for each thing customers can choose between (see below).
    5. Add at least one picture under Pictures, with alt text.
    6. Write the Details and Terms under Product page. Include what's included, how to book or arrive, and when the voucher expires.
    7. Set Status to Active and click Save.

The rest of the editor works the same as for gift cards. See Create gift card products for your web store.

Options and tickets

Each option has:

FieldWhat it's for
NameWhat customers choose, such as "Sat 12 Oct, 10am" or "Dinner for two". Every option needs its own name.
PriceWhat the customer pays. Options can share a price.
ValueOptional. Leave blank for a voucher with no money value. If you enter a value, the whole value is used up when the voucher is redeemed.
Tickets availableHow many of this option can be sold. Leave blank for unlimited.
SoldHow many have sold so far.
HiddenStops customers buying this option. Vouchers already sold for it still work.

Turn on Show customers how many tickets are left to show "12 left" under each option that has a ticket limit. It turns on automatically the first time you enter a ticket number, unless you've already chosen.

Things to know about tickets:

  • An option shows as sold out when its tickets are gone. The product stays on your store while any option can still be bought.
  • If you lower Tickets available below the number sold, that option simply stops selling until you raise it.
  • Tickets aren't held while a customer is at checkout. If two customers pay for the last ticket at the same moment, both orders go through and the option shows more sold than available.
  • Vouchers you issue from the dashboard also use a ticket. Samples don't.

What customers get

  • An email with the voucher code, the option they chose and its value (if any), a button to print the voucher as a PDF, and buttons to add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
  • Customers can buy a voucher for themselves or send it as a gift, with a message and an optional scheduled delivery time, unless you've hidden Send as gift.
  • If you turn on Approve each order before it's sent, the voucher isn't emailed until you approve the order. This is useful when you need to confirm a booking first. See Web store orders: finding, shipping and refunding.

Vouchers use the default expiry from your gift card settings, counted from the purchase date. See Gift card expiry. To change the wording of voucher emails and the PDF, see Web store emails.

Send a sample to yourself

Owners and Admins can check exactly what customers receive. In the voucher's product editor, the Send and issue card has:

  • Send a sample - emails the voucher, with its PDF and wallet links, to any address. The sample is marked SAMPLE, can't be redeemed, doesn't use a ticket and doesn't count toward your allowance. You can send up to 10 samples an hour.
  • Issue a voucher - emails a real voucher to a customer, as if they'd bought it. See Issue a complimentary voucher.

Both use the options as last saved, so save your changes first.

Common questions

Can customers redeem a voucher at my POS?

Not as a POS gift card, because vouchers aren't created in your sales channels. Staff redeem vouchers in the Wrapped dashboard, in the Wrapped Redeem app, or in the Lightspeed K-Series, L-Series and R-Series web extensions. See Redeeming vouchers.

Can a voucher be used as part-payment or spent in stages?

No. A voucher is redeemed once, in full. It can't be used to pay for anything, part-spent, topped up or have its balance adjusted.

Do vouchers count toward my monthly gift card allowance?

Vouchers that carry a value count the same way as gift cards. Samples never count. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.

Can I sell a voucher with no value?

Yes. Leave Value blank. The voucher is still a valid ticket until it's redeemed; its status comes from whether it has been redeemed, not from a balance.

Can I change an option after vouchers are sold?

Yes, but vouchers already sold keep the option name and value they were bought with. To stop selling an option without affecting sold vouchers, turn on Hidden rather than removing it.

Can I show gift cards and vouchers on separate pages?

Yes. In Web store › Settings › Design, turn on Menu to put gift cards and vouchers on separate pages.
