Create your Wrapped web store

Set up Wrapped's own online store to sell gift cards, vouchers and experiences - connect Stripe, choose your settings, add products and switch the store on. Included on every plan at no extra cost.

Updated September 19, 2026

The Wrapped web store is your own online shop for gift cards, vouchers and experiences, hosted by Wrapped at an address like https://yourbusiness.wrapped.store. You don't need Shopify or any other eCommerce platform. It's included on every Wrapped plan at no extra cost, and customers pay through your own Stripe account, so the money goes straight to you. To set it up you connect Stripe, choose your settings, add products and then switch the store on in Web store › Settings.

Before you start

  • You need to be an Owner or Admin on the Wrapped account. Members and Read-only users don't see the Web store menu.
  • Have a Stripe account ready, or be ready to create one during setup. Stripe asks for your business and bank details.
  • You can't switch the store on until the setup checklist on Home is finished, including choosing a plan and turning your gift card program on. See Set up your Wrapped account, step by step.

Set up your web store

    1. Go to Web store › Settings.
    2. Under Payments, click Connect my Stripe account to use a Stripe account you already have, or Create a Stripe account to open a new one. Finish the Stripe screens. When you're sent back to Wrapped, Stripe shows as Connected. See Getting paid: Stripe, payouts and fees.
    3. Once Stripe is connected, the rest of the settings appear. Under Your store, check the Web address. Wrapped gives you one automatically; click Edit to change it.
    4. Under Design, set your Store name, Button and link colour and Logo. If your account uses the new branding, you can click Apply your brand to use your brand kit's colour, font and logo instead.
    5. Under Checkout, choose whether customers can use Coupon codes, pay with a gift card (Paying with a gift card) and buy Top-ups, and whether to add Extra fees.
    6. If you want to post physical gift cards, turn on Physical gift cards by post under Shipping and add at least one shipping option. See Sell physical gift cards on your web store.
    7. Under Order notifications, choose whether you get New order emails and where they go (Send order emails to).
    8. Go to Web store › Products and click Create product to add at least one gift card or voucher, and set it to Active. See Create gift card products for your web store.
    9. Finish the setup checklist on Home if you haven't already.
    10. Back in Web store › Settings, turn on the Store switch. It changes from Off to Live. Click View store to see it the way customers do.

Share the store's web address, add a "Buy a gift card" button to your website, or embed the whole store on a page of your site. See Share, link to or embed your web store.

All of these are in Web store › Settings. Every switch and Edit dialog saves straight away.

What happens when a customer buys

  1. The customer chooses a product, pays by card through Stripe (after any coupon or gift card they entered), and sees an order confirmation page.
  2. The payment goes into your Stripe account. The order appears in Web store › Orders as Paid.
  3. Wrapped creates one gift card or voucher for each item and emails it to the buyer, or to the recipient if it was sent as a gift (at the scheduled time, if the buyer chose one).
  4. Gift cards are added to every connected sales channel, so they can be redeemed in your POS and online store straight away. Vouchers are not added to sales channels; they're redeemed through Wrapped. See Redeeming vouchers.
  5. Cards to be posted, and products you've set to Approve each order before it's sent, wait for you. See Web store orders: finding, shipping and refunding.
  6. Your automations run on the order, the same as for your other sales channels. See Marketing automations.
  7. You get a new order email, if that's turned on.

Web store gift cards use your gift card code format and the default expiry in Gift cards › Settings. See Gift card expiry.

Customers paying with a gift card

When Paying with a gift card is on, a customer can pay for part of a web store order with a Wrapped gift card they already have. At checkout they click Add in the order summary, enter the gift card code and click Apply (the same box takes coupon codes).

  • Each gift card pays what's left of the order, up to its balance. The rest is paid by card through Stripe. A customer can use more than one gift card.
  • Something must be left to pay by card. Online checkout takes the payment through Stripe, so gift cards and coupons can't cover the whole order. If they would, checkout asks the customer to remove a gift card.
  • The gift card is charged when the payment goes through. Wrapped records a redemption on the card's timeline for the amount it paid, and the new balance is sent to every connected sales channel, the same as a redemption in your POS. If the card belongs to someone with an email address, they get the usual balance update email.
  • What can't be used to pay: vouchers, cards that aren't active, expired cards, cards in a different currency from your store, and cards with no balance left.
  • Top-ups are paid in full by card. A gift card can't pay for a top-up.
  • On the order, Web store › Orders shows the amount under Paid with gift cards in Totals, and lists each card (code ending) with a View gift card link.

A card could be spent somewhere else in the moment between the customer starting to pay and the payment going through. The redemption is still recorded, because the customer has paid, so the balance can go below zero. It then shows as a sync error on the card until you correct the balance. See What happens if a card is used in two places at the same time.

To stop customers paying with gift cards, turn off Paying with a gift card in Web store › Settings.

Turning the store off

Turn off the Store switch in Web store › Settings. Customers who visit see a message that the store isn't available, and they can't buy. Gift cards and vouchers already sold keep working, and nothing is refunded.

The store also stops working if your Wrapped account isn't active, for example if your subscription ends.

Some older accounts also have a Legacy storefront tile in Settings. That is Wrapped's previous online store. New setups should use the web store described here.

Common questions

Does the web store cost extra?

No. The web store is included on every plan. Wrapped doesn't take a commission or a fee on your sales. Stripe charges its normal card processing fees on each payment. Gift cards sold on the web store count toward your monthly gift card allowance, like gift cards sold anywhere else. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.

Do I need Shopify or another online store?

No. The web store is a complete online store for gift cards and vouchers. If you already sell gift cards on Shopify or another online store, you can run both. Cards sold in either place work in your other connected channels.

Can I sell experiences, events or tickets?

Yes. Create a Voucher product, with options such as dates or sessions and a limited number of tickets for each. See Sell vouchers and experiences.

Why can't I see the Store switch?

Either Stripe isn't fully connected yet, or your setup checklist isn't finished. If Payments still says Connect Stripe to start selling or offers Continue Stripe setup, Stripe still needs details from you. If Stripe is connected but the store row says Finish your setup checklist to turn your store on, click Go to the checklist and complete the remaining steps.

Can customers use a gift card from my shop or POS on the web store?

Yes, any active Wrapped gift card for your account, wherever it was sold, as long as Paying with a gift card is on. It pays part of the order, and the balance goes down everywhere. See Customers paying with a gift card above.

Do web store gift cards work in my POS?

Yes. Gift cards bought on the web store are added to every connected sales channel, such as Shopify or Lightspeed, and their balances stay in sync. Vouchers are the exception: they're never created in your sales channels and are redeemed through Wrapped instead. See How Wrapped keeps gift cards in sync across your sales channels.

Can I use my own domain name for the store?

Not as the store's address. The store always lives on wrapped.store. To keep customers on your own website, embed the store on one of your pages or link to it. See Share, link to or embed your web store.

How do I test the store before launching?

There is no test mode. Buy a low-value gift card with a real card, check the email and the order, then refund the payment in Stripe and void the test card in Wrapped. Voided cards don't count toward your allowance. See Web store orders: finding, shipping and refunding.
