Web store emails

The emails and PDFs customers get when they buy from your web store, where to edit them (Branding › Emails, or Web store › Emails on classic branding), product-specific versions, the order emails you receive, and why an email might not send.

Updated September 19, 2026

When someone buys from your web store, Wrapped emails the gift card or voucher to the buyer, or to the recipient if it was sent as a gift, with a link to a printable PDF and buttons to add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Web store gift cards and vouchers have their own emails, separate from the ones used for cards sold in your other sales channels. Where you edit them depends on your branding: accounts on the new branding edit them in Branding › Emails; accounts on the classic branding use Web store › Emails.

Which emails customers get

EmailSent when
Web store gift card purchasedA customer buys a gift card for themselves.
Web store gift card sent as a giftA customer buys a gift card for someone else. Sent to the recipient, with the buyer's message, at the scheduled time if one was chosen.
Web store balance updatedThe balance of a web store gift card changes, for example after a top-up.
Web store balance reminderA reminder to spend the remaining balance.
Voucher purchasedA customer buys a voucher for themselves, or you issue one from the dashboard.
Voucher sent as a giftA customer buys a voucher for someone else.
Voucher PDFNot an email: the printable voucher customers open from the "Print your voucher" button.
Web store gift card PDFNot an email: the printable version of a web store gift card.

PDFs are built when the customer opens them, so they always show your current design and the product's current terms.

These are the names on Branding › Emails (in the Vouchers, Web store and PDFs groups). On the classic Web store › Emails page they're called Gift card purchased, Gift card gifted, Gift card updated, Gift card reminder, Voucher purchased and Voucher gifted, and one PDF attachment is used for both web store gift cards and vouchers.

Edit web store emails

New branding:

    1. Go to Branding › Emails. (Web store › Emails takes you here.)
    2. Scroll to Vouchers, Web store or PDFs and click Edit on the email.
    3. Change the words. Your logo, colours and font come from your brand automatically.
    4. Use the On/Off switch on the email's card to stop or start sending it.

Classic branding:

    1. Go to Web store › Emails.
    2. Use the switch next to an email to turn it on or off, and click Preview and edit to change it.
    3. Under PDF, click Customise to edit the printable version.

For the editor and merge tags, see Customize your gift card emails and Email merge tags.

Give one product its own emails

Open the product in Web store › Products and find the Emails and PDF card.

  • New branding: click Customise next to an email to give this product its own words. Customised emails show an Own words badge. On Branding › Emails, an email shows "N products have their own version" when this applies.
  • Classic branding: click Edit next to an email. A customised email shows Customised and has a Revert to account version link.

A product's own version is used instead of your main email for that product. If you edit your main email and a product's emails don't change, this is usually why. See My email template changes aren't showing.

Turning an email on or off always applies to all products.

Emails you receive

Set these in Web store › Settings › Order notifications:

New order emailSent for every paid order when New order emails is on. Lists the products, options and totals.
Gift card to postSent for every order with a posted card, titled "New gift card to fulfill for order #…". Always sent, even if new order emails are off.

Both go to the address in Send order emails to, or to your account email if that's empty.

Common questions

Does the buyer get an email when they send a gift card to someone else?

The recipient gets the gift email. The buyer sees the gift card on the order confirmation page after paying. Stripe may also email the buyer a payment receipt, depending on your Stripe settings.

Can I use the same email design as my other gift cards?

With the new branding, all emails share your brand automatically. With classic branding, each email has its own design; accounts that have it can use Copy design between emails on Web store › Emails.

Are web store emails sent from my own email address?

Web store emails are sent the same way as your other gift card emails. To send from your own domain, see Send gift card emails from your own domain.

Why does the Emails page show a "Voucher redeemed" email?

Wrapped doesn't send an email when a voucher is redeemed, so editing that email has no effect on customers.
