There are two places to look on a gift card's page. Activity shows whether Wrapped sent the email (an entry such as "'gift card issued' email sent to jo@example.com"). Email activity, in the … (More actions) menu, shows what happened after that: delivered, bounced, dropped, marked as spam and so on, for the last 30 days.
Check an email
- Go to Gift cards › All gift cards and find the card, for example with All filters › Recipient email or Order number. See Find a gift card.
- Open the card and look at Activity for an "email sent to …" entry, and check the address is right.
- Click … (More actions) › Email activity.
- Read the Event column for the most recent email. The Reason column explains failures.
- Close the window. If you need to resend, use Send email. See Edit recipient details and resend a gift card email.
The Email activity window is titled "Recent email events for the past 30 days". It lists Recipient, Event, Subject, Date and Reason, 10 at a time, and you can search by recipient, subject or event.
What the events mean
| Event | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| processed | The email was accepted for sending. | Wait a moment for a delivered event. |
| delivered (green) | The recipient's email provider accepted it. | If the customer can't find it, ask them to check spam, junk and promotions folders. |
| deferred | The recipient's provider asked to try again later. Delivery is retried. | Wait. If it never becomes delivered, check the address. |
| bounce (red) | The provider rejected it, often because the address doesn't exist. | Check the address for typos, correct it and resend. |
| dropped (red) | The email wasn't sent, usually because the address previously bounced, unsubscribed or reported spam. | See the Reason. Use a different address, or ask support. |
| spamreport (red) | The recipient marked the email as spam. | They won't get further emails from you. |
| unsubscribe (red) | The recipient unsubscribed. | See below. |
| open / click | The recipient opened the email or clicked a link. | Nothing. It arrived. |
Open and click events depend on the recipient's email app, so a delivered email without an open isn't necessarily unread.
If there's no "email sent" entry in Activity
Wrapped didn't send the email. Check:
- The card has a recipient email. Look at the Customer card.
- Emails are on for the card. An Emails off badge means they're off for this card (or its batch).
- The recipient isn't unsubscribed. An Unsubscribed badge appears next to their email.
- The card is active with a balance. Voided, expired and $0 cards aren't emailed.
- The email type is turned on in Branding › Emails, and the address isn't on your email suppression list in Settings › Gift card rules.
- The card synced. A new card is emailed once it has been created in your sales channels. A card with a sync error on every channel may not have been emailed. See Fixing gift card sync errors.
- The gift is scheduled. A banner shows the date it's due to send.
Unsubscribed recipients
If the recipient unsubscribed, an Unsubscribed badge appears next to their email on the Customer card. Wrapped won't email them. If the customer asks to receive emails again, click Resubscribe, then resend.
Common questions
Delivered, but the customer still can't find it
Ask them to search their inbox for your business name and check spam, junk and promotions. Sending from your own domain improves delivery. See Send gift card emails from your own domain.
Email activity is empty
The window only covers the last 30 days, and only emails sent for this card. If Activity has no "email sent" entry either, the email wasn't sent (see the checklist above).
Can I see emails for all cards at once?
Not in the gift card list. Email activity is per card.
