This page explains the terms you'll see in the Wrapped dashboard and help center, in alphabetical order. Each entry links to the article with the full details.
A
Account (Wrapped account) One business's gift card program in Wrapped, with its own gift cards, sales channels, branding, plan and team. One login can access several accounts. See Working across more than one Wrapped account.
Account ID Your Wrapped account's unique ID, shown in Settings › Business details and the account menu. Quote it when you contact support.
Adjustment Any change to a gift card's balance, recorded on the card's timeline with its amount, date and source. Sales, redemptions, refunds, top-ups, manual changes with Adjust balance, bonus credit, voids and expiry are all adjustments. See Reading a gift card's timeline and adjustments.
Allowance (monthly gift card allowance) The number of new gift cards your plan includes in each billing period: 50 a month on Basic, 200 on Pro and 500 on Plus. Voided and deleted cards and bonus credit don't count. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
Audit log The record of changes made to your account and who made them, in Settings › Audit log. See The audit log.
Automation A marketing rule that runs by itself, such as "buy a $100 gift card, get a $20 bonus". Automations are on the Pro plan and above. See Marketing automations.
B
Balance The amount left to spend on a gift card. Wrapped holds the balance and keeps it in step in every connected sales channel.
Batch A group of gift cards created together, either by generating codes (for example, for printed cards) or by importing a CSV file. Deleting a batch deletes every card in it. See Batches: create many gift cards at once.
Bonus credit Extra value an automation adds to the gift card the customer just bought. It doesn't create a new card, doesn't need a customer email, doesn't count toward your allowance, and can't expire separately from the card.
Bonus gift card A separate, new gift card an automation emails to the customer as a reward. It needs a customer with an email address, counts toward your allowance, and can have its own expiry. See Bonus gift card or bonus credit? Choosing an automation reward.
Brand (brand kit) Your logo, colours and font, set once in Branding › Brand and used on every email, PDF, wallet pass and customer page. See Set up your brand.
C
Check balance page A Wrapped-hosted page, in your brand, where customers enter a code to see their balance. See The check balance page.
D
Delete (a gift card) Sets the card's balance to $0 in Wrapped and in every connected sales channel, and removes it from your gift card list and reports. The card isn't removed from the sales channels themselves. It doesn't count toward your allowance, and it can't be undone. Use it for test cards. Compare Void. See Void or delete a gift card.
E
Expiry The date a gift card stops working. You set the default for new cards in Gift cards › Settings, where you can also choose whether expired cards can still be used, and you can change the expiry on individual cards. See Gift card expiry.
G
Gift card A code with a balance that customers can spend in your connected sales channels. It can be digital (emailed, with a wallet pass and PDF), physical (a printed card) or both. In Wrapped, each gift card has one master record, with its balance and a full timeline.
Go live (gift card program on) When your gift card program is turned on, Wrapped processes orders from your sales channels and sends emails. It turns on when you choose a plan, or with Go live or Turn on gift cards. See the Go-live checklist.
H
Hide from reporting Leaves a gift card out of your reports and analytics without changing its balance. The card still works everywhere and still counts toward your allowance. See Hide a gift card from reporting.
L
Liability The total unspent balance on your active gift cards: money customers have paid that you still owe as goods or services. Shown as Total liability on Home and in detail in the Liability report. See The Liability report and Accounting for gift cards: liability and revenue.
N
Native gift card A sales channel's own gift card, for example a Shopify gift card or a Lightspeed Retail X-Series gift card. Wrapped creates a native gift card with the same code in each connected channel that supports them, and keeps its balance matched. See How Wrapped keeps gift cards in sync across your sales channels.
O
Overage The charge for gift cards beyond your plan's allowance, added to your next bill at your plan's per-card rate. See Overage charges for extra gift cards.
P
Presentment currency The currency a customer sees and pays in at checkout. On Shopify stores that sell in several currencies, it can differ from your store's main currency, and Wrapped records gift card amounts in both. See Currencies and gift cards.
Prize account A feature for Lightspeed Retail R-Series channels that issues prize gift cards to participants. It appears under Gift cards › Prize accounts when turned on for an R-Series channel. See Prize accounts.
Promotional card A gift card marked Promotional because it was given away (for example, a bonus, a campaign or a giveaway) rather than paid for. Promotional gift cards can have their own expiry. Summary reports don't separate promotional cards from paid ones, but the Adjustments report shows every adjustment in detail. See Promotional gift cards and bonus credit in reports.
R
Redeem app Wrapped's mobile app for staff to look up and redeem gift cards and vouchers where you don't have a connected POS. See The Wrapped Redeem app.
Redemption Using some or all of a gift card's balance as payment.
Re-sync Pushing a gift card's current balance from Wrapped to every connected sales channel again, with Re-sync balance to sales channels on the card.
S
Sales channel A POS or online store connected to Wrapped, such as Shopify, Lightspeed or the Wrapped web store. Manage them in Settings › Sales channels. See Supported sales channels.
Sender domain Your own email domain, verified so gift card emails come from your address instead of no-reply@wrappedgiftcards.com. See Send gift card emails from your own domain.
Site One business location or brand. Each plan covers a number of sites. See Plans and pricing.
Sync Wrapped keeping a gift card's balance the same in every connected sales channel. Orders reach Wrapped within seconds, and Wrapped pushes the new balance out. See How Wrapped keeps gift cards in sync across your sales channels.
Sync error A sales channel refused to create or update a gift card, so the card's balance there may not match Wrapped. The card shows the error and the reason. See Fixing gift card sync errors.
T
Timeline The history on each gift card's page: every sale, redemption, adjustment, email and sync, in order. See Reading a gift card's timeline and adjustments.
Top-up Adding value to an existing gift card, for example reloading it at the POS.
V
Void (a gift card) Sets the card's balance to $0 in Wrapped and in every connected sales channel, and marks it Disabled. Unlike Delete, a voided card stays in your gift card list and reports. It doesn't count toward your allowance, and it can't be undone. See Void or delete a gift card.
Voucher A web store product for a specific item or experience (for example "dinner for two"), which may or may not have a money value. A voucher is redeemed once, in full, through Wrapped. It can't be part-spent, and it isn't created in your other sales channels. See Sell vouchers and experiences.
W
Wallet pass An Apple Wallet or Google Wallet version of a gift card that customers add from their email. It updates when the balance changes. See Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes.
Web store Wrapped's own online store for selling gift cards, vouchers and experiences, with payments through your Stripe account. It's a sales channel like any other. See Create your Wrapped web store.
