To go live, keep the same Wrapped account you set up and tested in. You don't need a new one. Delete your test gift cards, connect your live stores, disconnect any development or trial sales channels, check your settings, and make one small real test. Your branding, emails, gift card rules, team and plan all carry over.
What carries over
| Item | After you switch to your live stores |
|---|---|
| Branding, emails, wallet pass and customer pages | Kept |
| Gift card rules (expiry, code format, email suppression) | Kept |
| Team members, roles and two-factor authentication | Kept |
| Plan, trial and billing | Kept |
| Web store settings and products | Kept |
| Test gift cards | Kept until you delete them |
| Orders and gift cards from your test channels | Kept in Wrapped's history. They don't move to your live stores. |
The checklist
- Check your plan. Go to Settings › Plan and billing and make sure you've chosen a plan. Your gift card program has to be live for orders to be processed. If you see a Turn on gift cards banner, select it.
- Delete your test gift cards. Do this while your test channels are still connected, so each test card's balance is also set to $0 there. Open each test card, open the More actions (…) menu and choose Delete gift card. If you created test cards as a batch, delete the batch instead. See Removing test gift cards before you launch.
- Connect your live stores. Go to Settings › Sales channels, select Add sales channel, choose the platform and follow its setup guide. When a channel shows Setup steps, finish every one. See Supported sales channels.
- Disconnect your development or trial channels. In Settings › Sales channels, select Disconnect on each test channel and confirm. Wrapped stops syncing gift cards with it. Gift cards already issued aren't affected. See Disconnect or replace a sales channel.
- Bring in gift cards that already exist. Orders placed before a channel was connected aren't processed, and gift cards already in your live store aren't imported automatically. Import them. See Bring existing Shopify gift cards into Wrapped, Import existing gift cards from a CSV file and Keep using the physical gift cards you already have.
- Check your brand and emails. Review Branding › Brand, Branding › Emails and Branding › Wallet pass. Use Send a test on an email to see it in a real inbox.
- Send from your own domain (recommended). In Branding › Email settings, set up your sending address so emails come from your domain instead of no-reply@wrappedgiftcards.com. See Send gift card emails from your own domain.
- Check your gift card rules. In Gift cards › Settings, confirm the default expiry and code format. The code format only affects new codes. See Gift card settings.
- Set up your team. Invite staff with the right roles and ask everyone to turn on two-factor authentication. See Team members and roles.
- Make one small real test on your live stores. Sell a small gift card in one channel and redeem part of it in another. For online redemption on Shopify, a small real redemption on your live store is the only way to test. Afterwards, correct it: adjust the balance back, or void or delete the test card. See Testing gift cards before you go live.
- Watch your first orders. For the first day or two, check new gift cards in Gift cards › All gift cards, and use Check orders on each channel in Settings › Sales channels to confirm orders are arriving.
If your Wrapped subscription is billed through Shopify, uninstalling the Wrapped app from any Shopify store connected to your account cancels your Wrapped subscription. This includes a development store you've already disconnected in Wrapped. Before you uninstall the app from a development store, contact the Wrapped team so your billing can be moved to your live store first.
Common questions
Do I need a new Wrapped account for my live store?
No. Keep the same account. Disconnect the development or trial channels and connect your live stores. Everything you've set up stays.
What happens to the gift cards in my development store?
They stay in that store. After you disconnect it, Wrapped stops syncing with it. If you deleted the test cards in Wrapped first, their balance in the development store was set to $0.
Does disconnecting a channel uninstall the Wrapped app or delete anything in that store?
No. Disconnecting removes the channel from your Wrapped account and stops syncing. It doesn't uninstall anything in the store or delete gift cards there. If you want to remove the app too, do that in the platform itself, after reading the Shopify billing warning above.
Will orders my live store took before I connected it come into Wrapped?
No. Wrapped only processes orders placed after a channel is connected. Import gift cards that already exist in your live store instead.
My live store is connected, but test sales aren't creating gift cards.
Check that your program is live (no Turn on gift cards banner), the channel is turned on, and every Setup step for the channel is complete. Then see A gift card wasn't created for an order.
Can I go live without connecting a sales channel?
Yes. If you only sell through the Wrapped web store and redeem in person with the Redeem app, choose your plan and your program is live. See The Wrapped Redeem app.
