Disconnecting a sales channel removes it from your Wrapped account and stops all syncing with it. It doesn't delete any gift cards: cards stay in Wrapped and keep working in your other channels, and any copies already created in the disconnected store stay there with their last balance. To go live after testing, keep the same Wrapped account, disconnect the test store and connect your live store.
Disconnect a sales channel
- Go to Settings › Sales channels (open).
- On the channel, select Disconnect (on a phone, it's in the … menu).
- Read the message "It's removed from your account and Wrapped stops syncing gift cards with it. Gift cards already issued aren't affected." and select Disconnect.
The channel disappears from the list, and the audit log records who disconnected it.
What happens when you disconnect
| After disconnecting | |
|---|---|
| Gift cards in Wrapped | Unchanged. They stay in Gift cards › All gift cards, in your reports, and usable in every other channel. |
| Gift cards already created in the disconnected store | Stay in that store with the balance they had when you disconnected, and still work there. Wrapped doesn't delete or zero them. |
| Sales in the disconnected store | Ignored. Gift cards sold there aren't created in Wrapped, and redemptions there don't change the balance in Wrapped. |
| Balance changes in Wrapped | No longer passed to the disconnected store. |
| Your plan | No change. Channels don't count toward any limit. |
| Anything installed in the platform | Stays until you remove it: the Wrapped app, plugin, payment types, products or menu buttons. |
Because the store keeps its copies of your gift cards at their last balance, a card could be spent there and again somewhere else. Disconnect a store only once you've stopped accepting gift cards in it, or remove its gift cards in the platform yourself.
The WooCommerce redemption plugin and Bopple check balances in Wrapped directly. Disconnecting the channel doesn't stop them. Deactivate the plugin in WordPress, or disconnect Wrapped in Bopple, as well.
Disconnect or just turn off?
| Turn off (switch) | Disconnect | |
|---|---|---|
| Still listed in Sales channels | Yes, as Disabled | No |
| Sales processed | No | No |
| Gift cards updated in the store | No | No |
| Settings kept | Yes | Yes, and restored if you reconnect the same store |
| Best for | Pausing a channel you'll use again soon | A store you've stopped using |
See Sales channel status for more about turning channels off.
Reconnect a store
Repeat the store's connection steps (see its guide in Supported sales channels). When you connect a store that was connected before, Wrapped picks up the existing connection with its settings and its links to the gift cards already in that store, rather than starting again.
After reconnecting:
- Check the switch. Some platforms come back enabled straight away, others (such as WooCommerce) come back disabled.
- Sales made while the store was disconnected aren't processed automatically. For Shopify and Lightspeed Retail X-Series, use Check orders › Check specific orders to find and process them. For other channels, contact the Wrapped team.
- Gift card balances in the store catch up card by card the next time each card syncs. To update a card straight away, open it and choose Re-sync balance to sales channels from the … menu.
A store that was ever connected to another Wrapped account can reconnect to that old account instead of the new one, or switch the old connection back on alongside the new one. Before you move a store between Wrapped accounts, contact the Wrapped team (see Getting help).
Go live: from a development or trial store to your live store
Keep the same Wrapped account. Your branding, emails, settings and team stay as they are.
- Delete your test gift cards: open each one in Gift cards › All gift cards, open the … menu and choose Delete gift card. Deleting sets the card's balance to $0 in every connected channel and removes it from reporting. See Removing test gift cards before you launch.
- Go to Settings › Sales channels and Disconnect the development or trial store.
- Select Add sales channel and connect your live store.
- Turn on the switch for the live store and finish its setup steps.
- Run a small real test, then correct it (see Testing gift cards before you go live).
If the same store is simply moving from a trial to a paid plan with the platform (the store address doesn't change), you don't need to disconnect or reconnect anything. Just delete your test gift cards.
Gift cards that already exist in your live store (for example, cards you sold before using Wrapped) aren't imported when you connect it. See Import existing gift cards from a CSV file and the platform's setup guide.
For the full launch list, see Go-live checklist: moving from test stores to your live stores.
Switch from one platform to another
For example, moving your registers from one POS to another, or your online store from WooCommerce to Shopify.
- Connect the new platform and turn it on. Finish its setup guide.
- Check the new channel's code rules. Gift cards whose codes don't meet them can't be created there and show a sync error (see Gift card code format and each platform's rules).
- Test with a low-value gift card: issue it in Wrapped, check it appears in the new platform, then delete it.
- When staff and customers have stopped using the old platform, Disconnect it.
Gift cards already in Wrapped aren't copied to the new platform all at once. Each card is created there the next time it syncs, for example when it's topped up or redeemed, or when you choose Re-sync balance to sales channels on the card. If you need every active card in the new platform before you switch, contact the Wrapped team first.
Customers don't need new gift cards. Their codes and balances stay the same in Wrapped.
Common questions
Will disconnecting delete my gift cards or my reports?
No. Gift cards, their timelines and your reports are unchanged.
Can a customer still use a gift card in the store I disconnected?
Yes, if a copy of the card was created in that store, up to the balance it had when you disconnected. That spend won't reach Wrapped. This is why you should stop taking gift cards in a store before disconnecting it.
I disconnected the wrong channel. Can I undo it?
Reconnect the same store. Wrapped restores the existing connection and its settings. Check the switch afterwards, and process any sales made in the meantime (see above).
Do I need a new Wrapped account for my live store?
No. Keep the same account and connect the live store to it.
Does disconnecting remove the Wrapped app or plugin from my store?
No. Remove it in the platform if you no longer need it. For Shopify, uninstalling the Wrapped app also disconnects the channel in Wrapped.
