Cancelling Wrapped: what happens to your gift cards

How to cancel your Wrapped subscription, what happens to gift cards already in Shopify, Lightspeed and your other sales channels, what stops working, what to do before you cancel, and how to come back.

Updated September 19, 2026

You can cancel Wrapped at any time. There's no long-term contract. If your subscription is cancelled or lapses, gift cards already created in Shopify, Lightspeed and your other sales channels stay in those systems and still work there, but Wrapped no longer keeps their balances in sync between systems. Your customers' outstanding balances remain yours to honour.

What happens after you cancel

After your subscription ends

Balances between channelsNo longer kept in sync. Each channel keeps its own balance, so a card spent in one channel still shows its old balance in the others

Once Wrapped stops syncing, a customer could spend a card in store and still see the old balance online, or the other way round. Before you cancel, decide how customers will use their existing cards. For example, you could accept them in only one channel.

Gift cards that exist only in Wrapped, such as cards you redeem with the Redeem app rather than in a sales channel, can't be redeemed through Wrapped after you cancel.

Before you cancel

  1. Export your gift card data. Export your gift cards and reports so you have codes, balances and history. You can export your gift card ledger for 30 days after cancelling. See Export a report to CSV.
  2. Plan how you'll honour existing balances. Gift cards remain obligations to your customers under consumer protection law in many places. Check your local rules.
  3. Stop selling gift cards through Wrapped. Hide or remove your Wrapped gift card products in your online store, and stop selling Wrapped gift cards at the register. Wrapped won't create or email gift cards for orders placed after you cancel.
  4. Tell your staff how to handle gift cards from now on.

Cancel your subscription

If you pay by card

    1. Go to Settings › Plan and billing (open it). Only the account owner sees this tile.
    2. Next to Invoices and payment, select Manage. You can also select Manage subscription on your current plan. This opens the Stripe customer portal.
    3. Cancel your plan in the portal.

When the subscription ends, your Wrapped account is cancelled.

If you're billed through Shopify

If Plan and billing shows Billed through: Your Shopify bill, your Wrapped subscription is part of your Shopify bill. Uninstalling the Wrapped app from your Shopify admin cancels your Wrapped account and ends the Shopify charge.

Enterprise or invoiced accounts

Contact the Wrapped team. See Getting help from the Wrapped team.

Cancelling during your free trial

If you cancel before your 14-day trial ends, you aren't charged. See The free trial.

If a payment fails

If a subscription payment fails and isn't fixed, your subscription can end, with the same result as cancelling. To avoid this, update your card as soon as you see the overdue banner. See Billing, invoices and failed payments.

Uninstalling a sales channel app can cancel your account

  • Shopify: if your Wrapped subscription is billed through Shopify, uninstalling the Wrapped app from Shopify cancels your Wrapped account.
  • BigCommerce: uninstalling the Wrapped app from BigCommerce cancels your Wrapped account, even if you have other sales channels connected.

If you only want to reconnect or replace a sales channel, contact the Wrapped team first. See Disconnect or replace a sales channel.

Coming back

To reactivate a cancelled account, email support@wrappedgiftcards.com. Your gift cards, settings and history are still in your account. Once your account is active again, check that each sales channel is connected. Wrapped only syncs channels that are connected.

Common questions

Will my customers' gift cards stop working if I cancel?

Not in the sales channels they were created in. Gift cards in Shopify, Lightspeed and other channels stay there and still work. Wrapped just stops keeping balances in sync between systems.

Do I have to delete my gift cards in Shopify or Lightspeed?

No. Cancelling Wrapped doesn't remove gift cards from your sales channels.

Can I get my gift card data after cancelling?

Yes. You can still sign in, and you can export your gift card ledger (codes, balances and transaction history) for 30 days after cancelling. It's best to export before you cancel.

Will I be charged after I cancel?

There are no further subscription charges once your subscription has ended.

Can I downgrade instead of cancelling?

Yes. If cost is the concern, Basic keeps your gift cards in sync at a lower price. See Upgrading or downgrading your plan.

My dashboard says my account is cancelled, but I didn't cancel

That banner appears when the subscription has ended, for example after an unpaid invoice, or after the Wrapped app was uninstalled from a sales channel. Email support@wrappedgiftcards.com to reactivate the account.
