A giveaway is a branded page where customers enter their name and email address to claim a free gift card. Share its link or QR code at events, on social media, in emails or in store. Each email address can claim once, the page stops at the number of claims you set, and every claimed gift card is emailed to the customer straight away. You create giveaways in Marketing › Giveaways.
Giveaways are included on the Pro and Plus plans, and on Enterprise accounts with marketing features switched on.
Every gift card claimed through a giveaway counts toward your monthly gift card allowance. Set Max claims with that in mind. If you plan a very large giveaway, talk to the Wrapped team about pricing first. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
Create a giveaway
- Go to Marketing › Giveaways and select Create giveaway.
- Under Details, enter a Name (for your team) and the Gift card amount each person gets.
- Under Landing page, upload a Banner image (best at 1200 × 400px), and set the Button colour, Button text, Title, Description, and the placeholders for the name and email fields. The Landing page preview on the right updates as you type.
- Under Limits and schedule, enter Max claims. Optionally set Starts and Ends, and the Time zone those times are in.
- Under Expiry, choose No expiry, On a set date or Days after claim.
- Under Marketing opt-in, turn on Show a marketing opt-in if customers should be able to agree to marketing emails, and edit the Opt-in label.
- Under Terms and conditions, add a Terms URL or type Terms text. If you fill in both, the link is used.
- Under Email, select Edit email to write the email customers get when they claim. It starts as a copy of your standard gift card email.
- Select Save.
- Under Status, select Activate and confirm.
Share it
The Share panel in the editor shows the giveaway link, which looks like https://manage.wrappedgiftcards.com/giveaway/…, with a copy button. Select Respondents, QR code and export to open the respondents page, where you can also Open the page and Download QR code as an image for printing.
Anyone with the link can claim while the giveaway is active.
What the customer sees
- They open the page and enter their name and email address. If you turned on the opt-in, they can tick it.
- They select the button (for example Claim Gift Card).
- They see "Gift card claimed successfully! Check your email." and get the giveaway email with their gift card.
The gift card is created in your connected sales channels like any other Wrapped gift card, so it can be used in store or online.
If the giveaway can't be claimed, the page says why:
| Message | Why |
|---|---|
| This giveaway is not currently active. | It's a draft, paused or finished |
| This giveaway has not started yet. | Before Starts |
| This giveaway has ended. | After Ends |
| This giveaway has reached its limit. | Max claims reached |
| You have already claimed this giveaway. | That email address already claimed |
Settings reference
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gift card amount | The value of each claimed gift card |
| Max claims | The most gift cards the giveaway gives out in total. The page stops taking claims at the limit |
| Starts / Ends | Optional. Claims are only accepted between these times, in the chosen Time zone |
| Expiry | No expiry, On a set date (Expiry date), or Days after claim (Expires after a number of days) |
| Show a marketing opt-in | Adds a checkbox for marketing consent. Respondents who tick it are marked on the respondents page and export |
| Terms URL / Terms text | Shown on the page as a "terms & conditions" link or text |
Giveaway gift cards are marked promotional and are grouped in a batch named "Giveaway: " followed by the giveaway's name, under Gift cards › Batches.
Respondents
From Marketing › Giveaways, open a giveaway's menu and select View respondents. You'll see:
- Respondents, Claims used (for example "45 of 100") and Marketing opt-ins.
- A list with each respondent's Name, Email, whether they opted in to Marketing, when they Claimed, and a link to their Gift card.
- Export CSV to download the list, for example to import opt-ins into your email platform.
Only import respondents who ticked the marketing opt-in into your marketing lists.
Giving away a product instead of money
To give away something like a free coffee, set Gift card amount to the product's retail price. Then edit the giveaway email to describe the product and how to redeem it, and remove references to a dollar balance. Staff redeem the gift card for the product as usual.
Pausing, finishing and deleting
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Not live yet |
| Active | The page is taking claims |
| Paused | The page isn't taking claims. Activate it to start again |
| Completed | The giveaway has finished |
Select Pause in the editor (or from the list menu) to stop claims temporarily. Delete giveaway removes the giveaway. Gift cards it has already issued aren't affected by pausing or deleting.
Pause any active giveaway before moving to a plan without marketing features. On Basic you can't open Giveaways to pause it, but an active giveaway page can still take claims.
Common questions
Do giveaway gift cards count toward my allowance?
Yes. Each claimed gift card counts toward your monthly gift card allowance.
Can someone claim twice?
Not with the same email address. Capital letters and anything after a "+" in the address are ignored, so jane+1@example.com counts as jane@example.com. Someone using a genuinely different email address can claim again, so use Max claims to cap the total.
Can I change the amount after people have claimed?
Yes, but only new claims get the new amount. Gift cards already claimed keep their value.
Where do I find a respondent's gift card?
On the respondents page, select the link in the Gift card column, or search Gift cards › All gift cards by their email address.
A customer says they didn't get the email.
Check the email address on the respondents page, then see A customer didn't receive their gift card email. You can resend the gift card from its page.
