Connect Lightspeed eCom E-Series (Ecwid)

How to connect a Lightspeed eCom E-Series (Ecwid) store to Wrapped, create a wrapped_giftcard gift card product with price modifiers and 0% tax, and how Wrapped gift cards work at checkout as one-time discount coupons that are replaced whenever the balance changes.

Updated September 19, 2026

You connect Lightspeed eCom E-Series (Ecwid) by starting from Settings › Sales channels in Wrapped, authorizing Wrapped in Ecwid, and turning the sales channel on. Wrapped gift cards then work at your Ecwid checkout as one-time discount coupons: the coupon code is the gift card code, the discount is the card's balance, and Wrapped replaces the coupon with a new one whenever the balance changes. To sell gift cards in Ecwid, you also create a product with the SKU wrapped_giftcard.

How gift cards work in Ecwid

Wrapped can't create native gift cards in Ecwid, so every Wrapped gift card is added to your store as a discount coupon:

  • Coupon code: the same as the gift card code.
  • Name: the balance followed by "gift card", for example "$50.00 gift card".
  • Discount: a fixed amount equal to the card's current balance.
  • Uses: one. Each coupon can be used once.
  • Expiry: the gift card's expiry date, if it has one.

What the customer sees and what happens

    1. At checkout, the customer enters their gift card code as a discount coupon. The order total goes down by the card's balance, or by the order amount the coupon can cover if that's lower.
    2. When the order is paid, Wrapped deducts the coupon discount from the gift card and syncs the new balance to your other sales channels.
    3. If there's balance left, Wrapped deletes the used coupon and creates a new one-time coupon, with the same code, for the remaining balance. The customer uses the same gift card code next time.

The same thing happens whenever the balance changes anywhere else, for example a redemption in store or Adjust balance in Wrapped.

Limits

  • One coupon per order. A customer can't combine a gift card with another discount coupon, or use two gift cards on one order.
  • It behaves like any other Ecwid coupon. Ecwid's own coupon rules apply, including how discounts interact with tax and shipping.
  • A used coupon only works again once Wrapped has replaced it for the remaining balance.
  • Codes must be accepted by Ecwid. See Gift card code format and each platform's rules.

Refunds and cancellations

  • If an order's payment status changes to cancelled or declined, Wrapped voids any gift cards bought on that order and puts back any gift card amount used on it.
  • Other refunds don't change gift cards automatically. To give value back to a card, use Adjust balance in Wrapped; Wrapped then replaces the coupon with one for the new balance. To cancel a gift card that was bought and refunded, void it in Wrapped. See Adjust a gift card's balance and Void or delete a gift card.

When you void or delete a gift card in Wrapped, or adjust its balance to $0, go to Marketing › Discount coupons in Ecwid and search for the code. If a coupon with that code is still active, delete it so it can't be used.

Before you start

  • You need to be an Owner or Admin in Wrapped.
  • Start from Wrapped, logged in to the right Wrapped account. Wrapped connects the Ecwid store to the account you're logged in to. Installing Wrapped from Ecwid while you're not logged in creates a new, separate Wrapped account.

Step 1: Connect Ecwid in Wrapped

    1. In Wrapped, go to Settings › Sales channels and select Add sales channel.
    2. Choose Lightspeed eCommerce (Ecwid).
    3. Sign in to Ecwid if asked, and approve the access Wrapped requests. Wrapped asks for access to your orders, store profile and discount coupons.
    4. You're returned to Sales channels in Wrapped. If you haven't finished your Wrapped profile yet, you're asked to do that first.
    5. Turn on the switch next to the Ecwid sales channel. Wrapped ignores orders from a sales channel that's turned off.

Order notifications come from Ecwid automatically once the store is connected. There's nothing to register.

Step 2: Create a gift card product in Ecwid

    1. In Ecwid, create a product for your gift cards.
    2. On the General tab, set the SKU to exactly wrapped_giftcard.
    3. On the Options tab, add a drop-down option with the gift card amounts you want to sell, and use a price modifier on each value so the price matches the amount.
    4. On the Taxes tab, choose the zero tax rate (0%) so no tax is charged on gift cards.
    5. Add images and a description, and publish the product to your store.

Keep the SKU exactly wrapped_giftcard, and use options with price modifiers rather than separate variations with their own SKUs. Wrapped recognises a gift card purchase by that SKU.

When a paid order contains the gift card product, Wrapped creates one gift card per item (a quantity of two makes two cards) for the price paid, adds its coupon to Ecwid, and emails the gift card to the email address on the order.

Step 3: Test the connection

    1. In Wrapped, go to Gift cards › All gift cards and select Issue gift card. Enter a small value and issue it. Copy the code.
    2. In Ecwid, go to Marketing › Discount coupons and search for the code. You should see a coupon for the card's value.
    3. Delete the test card in Wrapped, then check the coupon in Ecwid and delete it there too if it's still active.

Online redemptions can't be tested without a real order, so test with a small real order and correct it afterwards. See Testing gift cards before you go live.

Common questions

A customer's gift card code isn't accepted at checkout

Search for the code in Marketing › Discount coupons in Ecwid. If there's no active coupon, open the card in Wrapped and choose Re-sync balance to sales channels from the actions menu to create it again. A coupon that was used a moment ago only works again once Wrapped has replaced it. See Fixing gift card sync errors and A gift card code isn't accepted at the register or checkout.

Are gift cards I already have added to Ecwid when I connect?

Not straight away. Wrapped adds a gift card's coupon when the card is issued or its balance changes. To add an existing card now, open it and choose Re-sync balance to sales channels.

Is there a settings page for the Ecwid sales channel?

No. Ecwid has no extra settings in Wrapped. To reconnect, choose Lightspeed eCommerce (Ecwid) from Add sales channel again while logged in to the same Wrapped account.

Do gift cards sold on Ecwid count toward my plan?

Yes. Each new gift card counts toward your monthly gift card allowance. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
