Connect Lightspeed eCom C-Series

How to connect a Lightspeed eCom C-Series store to Wrapped with an API key, sell gift cards with a wrapped_giftcard product, and how Wrapped gift cards work at checkout as one-time discount codes that are replaced whenever the balance changes.

Updated September 19, 2026

You connect Lightspeed eCom C-Series by creating an API key in your Lightspeed eCom admin and entering it in Wrapped, then turning the sales channel on. Wrapped gift cards then work at your online checkout as one-time discount codes: the code is the gift card code, the discount is the card's balance, and Wrapped replaces the discount code with a new one whenever the balance changes.

How gift cards work in Lightspeed eCom

Wrapped can't create native gift cards in Lightspeed eCom, so every Wrapped gift card is added to your store as a discount code instead:

  • Code: the same as the gift card code.
  • Discount: a fixed amount equal to the card's current balance.
  • Uses: one. Each discount code can be used once.
  • End date: the gift card's expiry date. Cards that don't expire get an end date far in the future.

What the customer sees and what happens

    1. At checkout, the customer enters their gift card code in the discount code box. The order total goes down by the card's balance, or by the order total if that's lower.
    2. When the order is paid, Wrapped deducts the discount amount from the gift card and syncs the new balance to your other sales channels.
    3. If there's balance left, Wrapped deletes the used discount code and creates a new one-time discount code, with the same code, for the remaining balance. The customer uses the same gift card code next time.

The same thing happens whenever the balance changes anywhere else, for example a redemption in store or Adjust balance in Wrapped: Wrapped deletes the discount code and creates a new one for the new balance.

Limits

  • One discount code per order. A customer can't combine a gift card with another discount code, or use two gift cards on one order.
  • It behaves like any other discount code. Lightspeed eCom's own discount rules apply, including how discounts interact with tax and shipping.
  • A gift card can't be split across orders at the same moment. Once a code is used, it only works again after Wrapped has replaced it for the remaining balance.
  • Codes must be accepted by Lightspeed eCom. See Gift card code format and each platform's rules.

Refunds and cancellations

  • If an order's payment status changes to cancelled, Wrapped voids any gift cards bought on that order and puts back any gift card amount used on it.
  • Other refunds don't change gift cards automatically. To give value back to a card, use Adjust balance in Wrapped; Wrapped then replaces the discount code with one for the new balance. To cancel a gift card that was bought and refunded, void it in Wrapped. See Adjust a gift card's balance and Void or delete a gift card.

Before you start

  • You need a Lightspeed eCom plan that includes API keys. Lightspeed makes these available on its eCom Advanced plan.
  • You need to be an Owner or Admin in Wrapped.

Step 1: Create an API key in Lightspeed eCom

    1. Log in to your Lightspeed eCom admin and go to Settings › Developers.
    2. Select New API key and name it Wrapped.
    3. Give the key all permissions.
    4. Turn on Enable this API key and save.
    5. Keep this page open. You need the API key and API secret in the next step.

Step 2: Connect the store in Wrapped

    1. In Wrapped, go to Settings › Sales channels and select Add sales channel.
    2. Choose Lightspeed eCommerce (C-Series).
    3. Paste the API key and API secret from Lightspeed.
    4. In Lightspeed admin domain (cluster ID), paste the domain from your browser's address bar while you're in the Lightspeed eCom admin (for example, yourstore.webshopapp.com or yourstore.shoplightspeed.com).
    5. Leave Gift card product ID empty for now. See step 4.
    6. Leave Language as en unless your store doesn't have English turned on, in which case enter a language code your store uses.
    7. Select Connect.
    8. Turn on the switch next to the new C-Series sales channel.

When you connect, Wrapped registers for order notifications in your Lightspeed eCom store automatically, so paid orders reach Wrapped without any further setup. Wrapped ignores orders from a sales channel that's turned off.

To change the connection later, select Settings on the sales channel. Test connection there checks that Wrapped can reach your store with the saved API key.

Step 3: Test the connection

    1. In Wrapped, go to Gift cards › All gift cards and select Issue gift card. Enter a small value and issue it. Copy the code.
    2. In your Lightspeed eCom admin, open your discounts and search for the code. You should see a discount with that code for the card's value.
    3. Place a test order using the code and pay for it. Check that the card's balance in Wrapped goes down and a new discount code appears for any remaining balance.
    4. Delete the test card in Wrapped, then check the discount code has gone or has no value in Lightspeed eCom. Delete it there if it's still active.

Online redemptions can't be tested without a real order, so use a small real order and correct it afterwards. See Testing gift cards before you go live.

Step 4: Sell gift cards in your Lightspeed eCom store (optional)

To sell Wrapped gift cards online, create a gift card product:

    1. In Lightspeed eCom, create a product for your gift cards, with a variant for each amount you want to sell.
    2. Set the SKU of each variant so it contains wrapped_giftcard, for example wrapped_giftcard_50.
    3. Set the product's tax so no tax is charged on gift cards. Wrapped creates the card for the price the customer paid, including any tax.
    4. Add images and a description, and make the product visible.

Instead of the SKU, you can enter the product's ID in Gift card product ID in the sales channel's Settings. Wrapped then treats any purchase of that product as a gift card.

When a paid order contains the gift card product, Wrapped creates one gift card per item (two of the same item make two cards), adds its discount code to your store, and emails the gift card to the email address on the order.

Common questions

A customer's gift card code isn't accepted at checkout

Check in Lightspeed eCom that a discount with that code exists and is active. If it doesn't, open the card in Wrapped and choose Re-sync balance to sales channels from the actions menu to create it again. Codes that were used a moment ago only work again once Wrapped has replaced them. See Fixing gift card sync errors and A gift card code isn't accepted at the register or checkout.

Are gift cards I already have added to Lightspeed eCom when I connect?

Not straight away. Wrapped adds a gift card's discount code when the card is issued or its balance changes. To add an existing card now, open it and choose Re-sync balance to sales channels.

What happens if I void or delete a gift card?

Wrapped takes the value off the card and removes its value from Lightspeed eCom. Afterwards, check your discounts in Lightspeed eCom, and delete the discount code if it's still active with a value.

Should customers use the gift card as a discount code in store too?

No. In store, redeem gift cards through your POS integration. The discount code only works in your Lightspeed eCom store.

Do gift cards sold online count toward my plan?

Yes. Each new gift card counts toward your monthly gift card allowance. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
