Connecting Lightspeed Restaurant O-Series (formerly Kounta) adds a Wrapped Gift Cards option to your POS. Staff use it to check a gift card's balance, sell or top up a card, and take a gift card as payment. The POS asks Wrapped directly each time, so balances are always current, in venue and online.
How it works
O-Series doesn't hold its own copy of your Wrapped gift cards. When staff check a balance, add funds or take a payment with Wrapped Gift Cards, O-Series sends the request to Wrapped straight away and Wrapped updates the card. Wrapped then syncs the new balance to your other channels, such as your online store. There's nothing for Wrapped to push back into O-Series, so there are no delays from Lightspeed's API limits.
This is separate from Lightspeed's own O-Series gift cards. Lightspeed gift cards don't sync with Wrapped. See "Existing Lightspeed gift cards" below.
Before you start
- You need to be an Owner or Admin in Wrapped (see Team members and roles).
- Sign in to Lightspeed Restaurant O-Series with a user who can approve integrations.
Connect your venue
- In Wrapped, go to Settings › Sales channels (open) and select Add sales channel.
- Choose Lightspeed Restaurant (O-Series).
- Sign in to Lightspeed Restaurant and allow access for Wrapped.
- You're returned to Sales channels with the message "Lightspeed Restaurant (O-Series) connected."
- Turn on the switch next to the new sales channel. Its status changes from Disabled to Enabled.
While the channel is disabled, Wrapped declines every Wrapped Gift Cards request with the message "Sales platform is not enabled in Wrapped".
Test the connection
- In Wrapped, go to Gift cards › All gift cards, select Issue gift card, enter a small value and select Issue gift card. Copy the code.
- On the O-Series Sell screen, open the menu and go to Add-ons › Gift Cards › Wrapped Gift Cards.
- Enter the code and select Confirm.
- Select Check Balance. You should see the balance you issued.
- Back in Wrapped, open the test card and delete it (Delete gift card) so it doesn't appear in reporting.
Limit Wrapped to certain sites
By default, Wrapped Gift Cards works at every site in your O-Series account. To limit it:
- On Sales channels, select Settings on the O-Series channel.
- In Only these Lightspeed site IDs, paste or type a site ID and press Enter. Add as many as you need.
- Select Save.
Leave the list empty to apply Wrapped to every site. This is also how you run separate gift card programs from one O-Series account: connect the same O-Series account to each Wrapped account and give each one its own sites. See Running several venues, brands or gift card programs.
Existing Lightspeed gift cards
Gift cards sold with Lightspeed's own O-Series gift card feature aren't connected to Wrapped, and the Wrapped Gift Cards option can't find them. To keep honouring them everywhere:
- Get a list of your active Lightspeed gift cards with their codes and current balances from Lightspeed.
- Import them into Wrapped. See Import existing gift cards from a CSV file.
- Stop selling Lightspeed's own gift cards, so staff only use Wrapped Gift Cards.
Customers keep their existing codes. After the import, staff redeem those cards with Wrapped Gift Cards, and the balances work online too.
Common questions
Do I need to add a gift card product or payment type in O-Series?
No. Wrapped Gift Cards appears in O-Series once you connect.
Does a customer get an email when they buy a gift card in venue?
Yes, if a customer with an email address is on the order before the funds are added. See Staff guide: selling a gift card in O-Series.
Do Shopify gift cards work at the O-Series POS?
Yes, if your Shopify store is connected to Wrapped. When staff enter a Shopify gift card code that isn't in Wrapped yet, Wrapped fetches it from Shopify.
Does connecting O-Series cost extra?
No. All plans include unlimited sales channels. Gift cards sold in venue count toward your monthly gift card allowance like any other gift card. See How the monthly gift card allowance works.
